"Airport project"
A day at the airport of Innsbuck
Have you ever interviewed strangers at an airport? On March 11th, 2 English groups of the 3rd classes got the chance to do exactly that.
Of course, we students had to prepare ourselves for this exciting day. First, we had to get the permission from the airport for our visit. Then we had to think about interesting questions we could ask. Finally, the big day had come. In the morning, we practiced our interview texts at school again so we would feel more confident. We were all very excited because we had to speak English the whole day and that meant also on the way to the airport and back to school. The journey didn’t take us very long although we had to use different means of transportation (bus – train - bus). Maybe this was because many of us talked about the interviews and wondered if people would actually agree to speak with us. At the airport we were all curious and a little bit nervous. We worked in groups of three and our task was to interview people. Sometimes people said “no” or were in a hurry, so we had to wait and try again. But many travellers were friendly and happy to help us with our project. Some interviews were very amusing, and we learned interesting things about where people were from and where they were travelling. Even the flight crew became very enthusiastic and wanted to get more information about our project.
After finishing our interviews, everyone was hungry. The boys decided to go to McDonald’s, while the girls went to M-Preis. We relaxed, talked about our interviews and laughed about some funny moments.
Overall, the Airport Project was a fantastic experience. It was fun, a little challenging, and a great way to practice speaking English with real people. It was also a nice day to get away from school and we students agreed that we would like to do such a similar little adventure again.
So, are you curious now? Why not listen to some audio clips or watch some videos then?
